Is Dublin Haunted?
Is Dublin haunted? Pat and Rebecca visit the city of Dublin in this week’s episode to explore its history and some of its most famous haunted locations. This historic city has a long history with many rebellions, but does that history affect its oldest buildings? Are they haunted? This episode visits the Brazen Head pub, the Collins Barracks, and the Kilmainham Goal.
Questions Explored in this Episode
When was Dublin founded? Who were its first inhabitants? Who were its rulers? What happened during the different bids for independence? What famous people have frequented the Brazen Head pub and who still haunts it? Is the Collins Barracks still filled with ghostly soldiers? Ghost Story – Dublin
Listen to Rebecca tell a story based on the ghost stories from Kilmainham Goal. A mom and her daughter get more than they bargain for on a tour of this haunted prison.
History of Dublin
Pat tells the history of Dublin. From the Vikings’ arrival in 841 to the cutting-edge tech revolution of today, Dublin is a complex city that has grown while overcoming many hardships, including take-overs, famines, and revolutions.
The Debate
Rebecca discusses three of the most haunted locations in Dublin as evidence of how haunted it is, but does Pat agree? The Brazen Head Pub is the oldest pub in Dublin and has been site of revolutions. They say Robert Emmett haunts this place. Collins Barracks was the longest continuously running army barracks before it became a museum. Visitors and passers-by claim to see ghostly soldiers and hear screams. Lastly, Kilmainham Goal operated with horrid conditions and conducted many executions over the years before becoming a museum. Its restoration brought several stories of ghosts that continue to this day. What does Pat and Team Skeptic think of these stories?
