Helpful Spirits
Helpful Spirits. In Ghostly’s thirty-third episode, Pat and Rebecca tell the lore of Big John and The Gray Man. These folktales of helpful ghosts are a perfect way to continue the old English tradition of telling ghost stories at the holidays. Except these stories are ones many believe to be true.
Listener Mail and Questions
Our first listener mail ghost story with a skeptic bent. Have a story or question of your own (or someone you know)? Send your story or question to info@ghostlypodcast.com and we might read it on the podcast. You can also email us individually at pat@ghostlypodcast.com or rebecca@ghostlypodcast.com. You could be on a future episode of Ghostly!
Big John
Listen to Rebecca tell the story of Big John, the helpful headless miner of West Virginia. After a tragic death involving explosives, this miner returns as a caring spirit to help guide lost miners to safety. Big John and the Gray Man both work to save those threatened by their environment.
The Gray Man
Listen to Pat tell the story of the Gray Man of Pawleys Island in South Carolina. This legend tells of a figure that appears to warn residents of impending severe storms, with the sightings as recent as 2018. There are several explanations of who the Gray Man is, so Pat dives into two of the most popular. Both involve missing fiances, and one is named Enoch Arden.
Poll Results
Also included in this episode are the results from last episode’s poll. The voting came down to the wire! Did listeners believe that Hull House is haunted? Still need to listen to our previous episode? Check it out here.
